Optically Unstable Phase from Ion-Ion Interactions in an Erbium-Doped Crystal

چکیده
We demonstrate an optical unstable phase for a laser driven erbium ion ensemble. The transmitted light through erbium-doped yttrium orthosillicate crystal becomes dynamically when illuminated by strong continuous-wave laser. Transient net gain was recorded if the passes sample twice. experimental results are understood in framework of many-body system interacting with classical field, where ion-ion interaction significant as result high concentration. A Bloch-equation model that includes excitation-induced frequency-shift is introduced to discuss conditions instabilities.

متن کاملProcessing for optically active erbium in silicon by film co-deposition and ion-beam mixing
Techniques of film deposition by co-evaporation, ion-beam assisted mixing, oxygen ion implantation, and thermal annealingwere been combined in a novel way to study processing of erbium-in-silicon thinfilm materials for optoelectronics applications. Structures with erbium concentrations above atomic solubility in silicon and below that of silicide compoundswere prepared by vacuum co-evaporation ...
متن کاملIon exchange phase transitions in"doped"water--filled channels
Ion transport through narrow water–filled channels is impeded by a high electrostatic barrier. The latter originates from the large ratio of the dielectric constants of the water and a surrounding media. We show that “doping”, i.e. immobile charges attached to the walls of the channel, substantially reduces the barrier. This explains why most of the biological ion channels are “doped”. We show ...
متن کاملExperimental evidence of Er³⁺ ion reduction in the radiation-induced degradation of erbium-doped silica fibers.
The gain of erbium-doped fiber amplifiers is damaged by irradiation partly because of creation of color centers responsible of excess absorption at pump and signal wavelengths. Based on the combination of thermally stimulated luminescence and spectrophotometry, this Letter demonstrates that a part of the gain loss should be associated with the reduction of the density of Er3+ ions by irradiation.
